TURLOCK, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's basketball snapped a four-game losing streak with a decisive 73-53 road win over Stanislaus State on Saturday night.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 35-19 halftime lead and never looked back. They had one of their hottest shooting nights of the season, finishing at 50 percent from the field (27-for-54) and 50 percent from long distance (15-for-30).
Junior
Jalen Richard scored a career-high 30 points on 11-for-18 shooting. He tied the program's single-game record with eight made three-pointers, going 8-for-11.
Senior
Jack Pasquini notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman
Jordan Balser also reached double figures, adding 10 points.
Senior
Alex Carmon scored seven points on 3-for-5 shooting and reached a career milestone. The Long Beach native surpassed 1,000 career points in less than three seasons. He's third on the Pioneers in scoring this season, and he ranks third on Academy of Art's all-time scoring list with 880 points in two seasons before transferring to East Bay.
Defensively, the Pioneers were dominant, holding Stanislaus to 29.2 percent from the field and 4-for-19 from three-point range. The visitors also held a 33 to 24 advantage on the boards. They
managed to hang on in the second half despite attempting just seven free throws for the night.
East Bay improves to 8-14 overall and 4-11 in the CCAA, keeping them in the hunt for the postseason tournament just one game out of playoff position.
