HAYWARD, Calif – The Cal State East Bay Men's basketball team have begun the the season with a program best 6-1 start. The Pioneers will open up California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play with road matchups against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, December 2 and #5 ranked San Francisco State on Saturday, December 3. Tipoff of for both games will be at 7:30 p.m.

This will be East Bay's fifth and six consecutive game away from Pioneer Gymnasium and second straight season beginning conference play on the road.

WEEK IN REVIEW
CSUEB completed the Carl Jr's Mac Martin Invitational hosted by Chico State 2-0 with wins over Northwest Nazarene 71-53 and Academy of Art 78-71.

Micah Dunhour,
Jalen Richard and
Druce Asah all earned Mac Martin Invite All-Tournament team honors.

Dunhour led the Pioneers with 18.5 points, 5.5. rebounds and 2.5 assists 35 minutes per game. He shot 48 percent from the field, including 60 percent from three-point range and 90 percent from the foul line.

Dunhour scored a season high 23 points in the victory over Northwest Nazarene.

Richard compiled a 17 points, 4.5 rebounds, two steals and two assists average throughout the two game tournament. He played 31.5 minutes per contest.
Ricahrd also put in a season high 18 points in the Pioneers win over ART U.

Druce Asah added 13.5 points and 2.5 rebounds on his way to garnering All-Tournament honors. He finished shooting 47.3 percent accuracy from the floor and 53.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Asah knocked down a career best seven three-pointers in East Bay's win over Academy of Art.

East Bay has three Pioneers in the top-30 of scoring in the CCAA and one in the top-5.
Micah Dunhour leads CSUEB with 16.4 points per contest and is currently fifth in the conference in scoring average. Dunhour also sits fifth in the CCAA in rebounding, grabbing a team-leading 7.4 per game. He has six double figure scoring outputs to go along with three double doubles on 45.3 percent shooting accuracy.

Dunhour's 33.6 minutes per game is tops in the conference.

Druce Asah is currently 14th in the CCAA and second on East Bay with 13.9 point per outing. His 55.9 percent is second on the team. Asah leads the CCAA shooting 54.1 percent from long distance. His 20 made three-pointers leas the Pioneers.

Jalen Richard is chipping in 11.6 points per game, which puts in 29th in the CCAA. His 6.3 rebounds ranks second on the Pioneers and 16th in the CCAA. He is adding 2.1 assists and a team-leading 1.7 steals for East Bay.

Juwan Anderson leads CSUEB and is third in the CCAA with 4.7 assists. Anderson is sixth in assist to turnover ratio with 28 assists and 12 turnovers through six games. He is adding 7.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Anderson is shooting a perfect 1.000 percent from the charity stripe knocking down all 12 of his free throws this season.

Kyle Frakes is shooting a team-high 57.7 percent from the floor. Frakes is averaging 6.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game through six games.

Drew Bender are pacing the Pioneer bench early in the season. Carter is averaging 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 87.5 percent from the foul line on 25.7 minutes of game action.

Bender is compiling 6.7 points and 3.0 assists, second on the team, on 87.5 percent accuracy from the free throw line.

East Bay is eighth in the CCAA in scoring offense averaging 72 points per contest. The Pioneers are fifth in scoring defense only allowing 67.3 points from opponents.

CSUEB is tied for fifth in the conference with 61 three-pointers made so far this season and sit third is three-point field goal percentage defense holding opponents to 30.6 percent. The Pioneers are averaging 8.7 made three-pointer per game.

East Bay is also fifth in rebounding defense, grabbing a little over 33 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING MONTEREY BAY
Cal State Monterey Bay were pick to finish 10th in the CCAA Preseason coaches poll and are currently 2-4 on the season. CSUMB completed the 2015-16 season 12-8 in CCAA action and 14-13 overall. The Otters defeated Dominican 73-72 and fell to Holy Names 62-65 in their games last week. Kevin Warren leads Monterey Bay with 14.8 points and 2.0 rebounds. Shawn Smith is adding 11.6 points and 4.0 rebounds for the Otters.

SCOUTING #5 SAN FRANCISCO STATE
San Francisco State is currently ranked fifth in the Division II West Region Media polls and were picked to finish sixth in the CCAA Preseason coaches poll. SF State is 6-0 on the season and finished the 2015-16 season 10-10 in CCAA play and 16-11 overall. The Gators were victorious over Holy Names 94-64 and Notre Dame De Namur 61-50 in the NDDU Thanksgiving Classic. Warren Jackson leads the CCAA and the Gators with 18.5 points and 4.2 assists. AJ Kahlon is putting in 13.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for SF State.
