HAYWARD, Calif – The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team will continue its road trek with a trip to Chico State to participate in the Carl Jr's Mac Martin Invitational to take on Northwest Nazarene (2-1) on Friday evening and Academy of Art on Saturday evening. Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Art Acker Gymnasium.
East Bay continued its hot streak, improving to 4-1, which is the best under fourth year head coach

WEEK IN REVIEW
Three Pioneers collected double figures as East Bay improved to 4-1 with a 70-65 win over Holy Names University Tuesday night in Oakland at Tobin Gymnasium.
The 4-1 start for CSUEB is the best under fourth year head coach
Gus Argenal and the best start for the Pioneers since re-joining the NCAA Division II.
Senior forward
Micah Dunhour picked up his second consecutive double-double leading the Pioneers with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dunhour added three assists and tied a team lead with two steals on 8-for-15 shooting from the field, while sinking five of his six free throws and connecting on his only attempt from downtown.
Freshman
Druce Asah continued his hot streak compiling 18 points, six rebounds, an assists and a steal. Asah went 6-for-10 from the floor, while pacing the Pioneers with three made three-pointers, while collecting a team best four offensive rebounds.
Sophomore
Juwan Anderson dished out an East Bay high six assists. Anderson tallied 11 points, three rebounds, and a steal while leading the Pioneers with 34 minutes on the floor. He went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Senior guard
Jalen Richard turned in a great overall performance for CSUEB with nine points, eight rebounds, an assist and tied the team lead with two steals. Richard knocked down 5-for-6 free throws for the Pioneers.
Drew Bender led the East Bay bench with four points and a rebound, while
Pierre Carter chipped in two points, five rebounds and a assist.
The Pioneers claimed the rebounding advantage 42-34, while dominating on defense holding the Hawks to 37.5 percent shooting from the field.
East Bay outscored Holy Names in points in the paint 26-22, points off turnovers 19-18, second chance points 13-3 and fast break points 2-0. The Pioneers also outscored the Hawks in both halves.
CSUEB finished the games shooting at a 40.4 percent clip while shooting 86.4 percent accuracy from the foul line.
PIONEER POINTS
CSUEB has two players in the top-20 od scoring in the CCAA and one Pioneer in the top-10.
Micah Dunhour leads East Bay with 15.6 points per outing and currently sits ninth in the conference. Dunhour is currently fourth in the CCAA in rebounding grabbing a team-leading 8.2 per game. He has four double digit scoring efforts along with with three double doubles on 44.3 percent shooting from the field, good for 13th in the CCAA.
Dunhour's 33 minutes per game ranks fourth in the conference.
Druce Asah is putting in 14.0 points, per game, 16th in the conference, on 60 percent shooting accuracy from the field and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc, which is good for second in the CCAA. Asah leads the Pioneers with 12 made three-point field goals so far on the season.
Juwan Anderson is fourth in the CCAA with a team-leading 5.2 assists per outing. Anderson is fifth in assist to turnover ratio with 26 assists and 11 turnovers through five games. He is adding 8.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals. Anderson is shooting a perfect 1.000 percent from the charity stripe knocking down all 12 of his free throws this season.
Jalen Richard is chipping in 9.4 points, third on the team, and averaging 7.0 rebounds, which is 11th in the CCAA. Richard is also 13th in the conference with a teaming leading eight steals. He is contributing 2.2 assists per game, good for second on the Pioneers.
Junior
Kyle Frakes is shooting a team-high 66.7 percent from the floor and 1.000 percent from the charity stripe. Frakes is averaging 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Pierre Carter and
Drew Bender are pacing the Pioneer bench early in the season. Carter is averaging 7.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting a perfect 1.000 percent from the foul line.
Bender is compiling 6.6 points and 2.0 assists on 91.7 percent accuracy from the free throw line.
East Bay is eighth in the CCAA in scoring offense averaging 71 points per contest. The Pioneers are seventh in scoring defense only allowing 69.4 points from opponents.
CSUEB is tied for sixth in the conference with 36 three-pointers made so far this season and also fifth in rebounding defense, grabbing a little over 24 rebounds per game.
The Pioneers are third in the CCAA averaging 13.6 assists per game, with 68 total and fourth in the conference with 8.4 steals per outing, including 42 total.
East Bay is shooting 73.4 percent from the free throw line as a team, which ranks fourth in the CCAA.
SCOUTING NORTHWEST NAZARENE
The Northwest Nazarene Crusaders are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a 53-77 exhibition loss to the College of Idaho. The Crusaders finished the 2015-16 season with a record of 4-16 in the GNAC and an 8-18 overall. Kaileb Rodriguez leads Northwest Nazarene with 17 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Jalen Sheppard is adding 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Crusaders.
This will be the first matchup in program history between Cal State East Bay and Northwest Nazarene.
SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART
The Academy of Art Urban Knights are 1-3 so far on the season and are coming off losses to Cal State San Bernardino (76-72) and Sonoma State (64-53) in the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic. The Urban Crusaders completed the 2015-16 season with a record 4-16 in the PAC West and 6-20 finish overall. Chris Salas leads ART U with 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. Kendall Brown is putting in 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds for the Urban Knights.
East Bay and ART U have split its last four meeting 2-2, with the Pioneers picking up a 68-65 overtime win in 2010-11 and an 80-70 win in 2011-12. The Urban Knight have won the last two meetings with a 77-75 victory in 2012-13 and a 97-80 victory in 2013-14.
