HAYWARD, Calif – The Cal State East Bay Pioneers will embark on a nine game road trip with their first rue road test against Montana State-Billings on Saturday, November 19 in Alterowitz Gymnasium in Billings, Montana.

This will be the East Bay's second consecutive contest against a member of the GNAC after defeating Fresno Pacific on Wednesday night.

The Pioneers improved to 2-1 for the first time under fourth year head coach
Gus Argenal with a 71-65 victory over Fresno Pacific on Wednesday night November 18 in Pioneer Gymnasium.

CSUEB were paced by seniors
Micah Dunhour and
Pierre Carter who were the teams only double figure scorers.

Micah Dunhour lead East Bay with 22 points, including a team high 15 in the first half. Dunhour added two rebounds, two assists and two steal while playing a team-high 38 minutes. He finished 9-for-13 from the field, going 1-for-2 from long distance and 3-for-4 from the foul line.

Pierre Carter led the Pioneer bench with 14 huge points. Carter scored 12 straight at one point to carry CSUEB on a 12-2 run in the middle of the second half, as the Pioneers stretched their lead to 57-43. He added five rebounds, an assist and a steal while shooting 4-for-6 rom the floor, 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Senior guard
Jalen Richard tied a season-best with eight rebounds, including four big offensive boards. Richard compiled nine points, three assists and two steals.

Sophomore
Juwan Anderson led East Bay with six assists. Anderson chipped in five points, two steals and a rebounds.

Junior center scored the Pioneers' first six points of the game and he finished with eight points total. He grabbed four boards and went 4-for-5 from the floor despite playing just 12 minutes due to foul trouble. Frakes leads the team with a .706 field goal percentage through the first three games.Â

Coming off a huge opening weekend, freshman
Druce Asah tallied eight points, five rebounds, and a block while connecting on two shoots from behind the three-point line before fouling out.

East Bay won the battle of the boards 28-27, outscoring Fresno Pacific 7-2 on fast break points. The Pioneers finished the game shooting 44.44 percent from the field, including 50 percent in the second half, while holding the Sunbirds to 43.3 percent accuracy for the game.

CSUEB has two players in the top-20 of scoring in the CCAA.
Druce Asah leads the Pioneers with a 16.7 per game scoring clip and sits 11th in the conference.
Micah Dunhour is putting in 13.7 points per contest and is 19th in the CCAA in scoring.

Asah is shooting 59.3 percent from the field, good for fifth in the conference and 56.3 percent from beyond the arc, which puts him sixth in the CCAA. He is averaging 3.0 three-pointers per game.

Dunhour shooting 45.9 percent accuracy from the field while adding a team leading 6.7 rebounds per contest, which is top-15 in the CCAA.

Juwan Anderson is fourth in the CCAA with a team leading 5.7 assists per outing. Anderson is second in the conference in assists to turnover ration with 17 assists and only five turnovers on the season so far. He is averaging 8.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Anderson is shooting a perfect 1.000 percent from the foul line so far this season.

Kyle Frakes is tallying 9.7 points on a team-best 70.6 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the charity stripe.

East Bay is currently sixth in the CCAA in scoring offense averaging 77 points per game.

The Pioneers are third in the CCAA shooting 70.7 percent from the free throw line and fourth in the conference in defensive rebounding.

CSUEB leads the CCAA in assists with 49 and is third in the conference in steals with 27.

SCOUTING MONTANA STATE-BILLINGS
The Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets are coming off a 73-78 loss at Rocky Mountain College. The Yellowjackets finished the 2015-16 season with a 11-17 overall. Preston Beverly is leading Montana State with 16.3 points per game and 5.3 rebounds on 53.6 percent shooting. Christian Evans is averaging a double double with 11.0 points and 10.7 rebounds for the Yellowjackets.
