Men's Basketball Earns NABC Academic Excellence Award

HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team was named as a recipient of a 2014-15 Team Academic Excellence Award by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday.

The Pioneers were one of 153 programs across all three NCAA divisions to capture the third annual Academic Excellence Award, which was created by the NABC Committee on Academics to recognize teams that maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average for the school year.

The East Bay men posted a collective GPA of 3.07 for the 2014-15 season. They have now finished four straight quarters at 3.0 or better under head coach Gus Argenal

The Pioneers were the only school from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), as well as the only CSU institution, to earn the NABC's award. They also placed four student-athletes on the 2014-15 CCAA All-Academic team, tied for the most of any CCAA school.
