Shannon Bland set a new personal career-high in points in a single game with 20 as Cal State East Bay cruised to a 69-47 CCAA victory over Stanislaus State Saturday at Pioneer Gymnasium. The win for the Pioneers is the seventh consecutive overall and vaults their first-place conference record to 4-0.They stand 9-2 overall. The Warriors fell to 2-2 in conference play and 6-5 overall.
In the final game until Dec. 30, the story of another Pioneer win was about their great fourth quarter. They entered the final quarter up only six points at 45-39, but the Pioneers hit the first seven points of the quarter to increase their lead to 13 at 52-39. The Pioneers dominated both ends of the floor in the fourth and outscored the Warriors 24-8.
"We played well in the fourth quarter and it allowed us to take a comfortable lead,
" said Cal State East Bay Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "We are ready for this break and it couldn't come at a better time. We will use the time away to get healthy, take a mental break from the game and rejuvenate."
Bland scored her 20 points on just eight shots thanks to an 8-8 from the charity-stripe. She hit 5-for-8 from the field overall and nailed both of her three-point attempts. Bland also grabbed five rebounds and had three assists.
Senior
Tori Breshers had another stellar game, pouring-in 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to tie her career-best rebounding effort that she set against Fresno Pacific on Nov. 22, 2014. She also had three blocks and two steals. Breshers is currently second in the conference in steals with 2.0 a game. Breshers also places fourth in blocks in the conference with 1.3 per game.
Senior
Laci Effenberger scored 16 points, dished-out a game-high four assists and blocked two shots. Effenberger had one steal and is first in the conference in that category.

Remy Puou, and senior
Ashleigh Anderson each had six rebounds. Anderson also had a team-high three steals.
The Pioneers made the most of the 22 trips to the free throw line, hitting 18 (81.8%) of them.
"When we got to the free (throw) line we connected, especially Shannon (Bland) and Tori (Breshers) and that helped us to the win tonight," said Barcomb.
The Pioneers outrebounded the Warriors 46-31. Cal State East Bay shot 39.3% from the field compared to 27.9% for the Warriors. Each team committed 15 turnovers, but the Pioneers made more of the turnovers they received. They outscored the Warriors 24-13 in that category.
When the Pioneers take the court on Dec. 30, it will be at Pioneer Gymnasium against Holy Names at 5:00 P.M. Cal State East Bay returns to CCAA action on Jan. 1 against San Francisco State.
