Box Score TURLOCK, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team lost on the road Saturday night, falling in four sets to Cal State Stanislaus (23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 18-25). It was the first victory of the year for the Warriors, who topped the Pioneers (4-5, 1-3 CCAA) despite impressive efforts from seniors

East Bay put together an efficient offensive attack for the second straight night, but once again came up short on the road. Stanislaus out-hit them .252 to .224 for the match, racking up 60 kills against just 50 for the Pioneers.
The first set was extremely tight, but once the Warriors took a lead at 11-10, they never gave it up on their way to a two-point victory. The Pioneers hit .300 as a team in the first, their highest attack percentage of any set. They posted a mark of .250 in the second frame, but it was enough to even the match thanks to a late run. Stanislaus got out to a 9-3 lead, but the Pioneers won five straight to tie the score at 22-22. Then they won three of the next four points and put the set away on a kill by Joseph.
Following intermission, the Warriors won two straight frames to claim the win. They made a late rally in the third set to pull away with an eight-point victory. In the fourth set, the home team won the first five points and jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The Pioneers were unable to mount a sustained rally, as Blair Ehrlich (16 kills, .364 pct.) helped Stanislaus pull away.
Bruno hit .333 and matched a season high with 15 kills on the night. She finished the weekend with 26 kills to lead the Pioneers. Hall notched 12 kills and six digs, reaching double-digit kills for the eighth straight match.
Joseph had a tremendous impact on all aspects of the game, racking up nine kills, 28 assists, and 12 digs with a team-best .421 attack percentage. Fellow setter
Veronica Fabiano played in three sets and posted 14 assists along with three digs.
On the back line,
Brandi Brucato had 12 digs and four assists,
Angie Maina finished with 11 digs and three total blocks, and
Veronica Sanchez posted six scoops.
In the middle,
Micah Hammond tallied five kills and a .308 hitting percentage, and
Jovan Turner added three kills and three blocks. Fellow freshman
Marina Aragao turned in three kills and three digs in two sets off the bench.
Cal State East Bay has two more road matches next weekend as the team looks for its first win away from Pioneer Gymnasium. They travel south to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night, followed by Cal State L.A. on Saturday night, with both contests set for 7 p.m.
