Cal State East Bay (6-10, 5-7 CCAA) enters the weekend following a series split with Sonoma State. The Pioneers were able to pick up their first two home wins over the Seawolves after dropping their first nine meetings at Pioneer Field.

CSUEB is hoping to take the momentum of last weekend's split on the road against Cal State Monterey Bay (11-4, 5-3 CCAA). The Pioneers are just 1-7 in CCAA play against the Otters and ended the seven game skid with a 6-5 win in the 2012 series finale.

Meli Sanchez is coming off a productive series in which she went 6-for-13 at the plate (.462) and drove in four runs. Kelsey LaVaute collected five RBI in a single game including a walk off grand slam to cap off Friday's action against SSU. Ali Cerminara ended the series with her own walk off in the form of a sacrifice fly.

Pitcher Emily Perlich is coming off a pair of complete game efforts including a season-high eight strikeouts in her latest outing. She held the Seawolves to four runs or less in both of her starts. Kelsey Cairns picked up the win in her most recent start holding SSU to three runs in her complete game effort. In eight starts this season she is 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA.

Monterey Bay earned a pair of home wins over Academy of Art on Wednesday, March 5, and has won three straight heading into the weekend series. The Otters split a four-game series at home with then nationally ranked No. 1 Humboldt State (Feb. 21-22) and are currently fourth in the league standings as of March 6.

The Otters pitching staff currently ranks second in the CCAA with a 2.49 ERA this season. Starters Cori Reinhardt (4-3, 2.48) and Lindsey Clarkson (5-1, 2.90) have combined for seven complete games and struck out 73 batters in 86.2 innings this season. Opponents are hitting at a mere .216 clip against this group thus far in 2014.

Nine different players are hitting over .300 this season for the Otters. Bianca Noriega leads the team with 11 RBI, 18 base hits and seven doubles. She has also seen time in the circle posting a 2-0 record and 1.91 ERA in five relief appearances.
