HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay will host Holy Names at Pioneer Field for a Tuesday afternoon non-conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The Pioneers and Hawks are making up games from their originally scheduled Feb. 9 date which was postponed due to wet weather.

The two squads last met in 2009 with Holy Names (7-17) sweeping the season series 4-0. Both teams will be looking to get back in the win column with the Pioneers having lost four straight and the Hawks their last six entering Tuesday.

East Bay starting pitcher Emily Perlich (1-8, 4.05 ERA) has tossed a complete game in each of her past four starts. During that stretch she has a 2.33 ERA and struck out 17 batters in 27 innings. Kelsey Cairns (2-5, 5.14 ERA) was held to her two shortest outings of the season during her past two trips to the circle and will look to bounce back against a Hawks squad hitting just .242 as a team after this past weekend.

Lauren Vestal was the lone offensive bright spot this past weekend going 6-for-11 including a solo homerun against Cal State Monterey Bay. The Pioneers have teamed up for 12 homers this season led by Chelsie Kakela with four.

Prior to Monday's doubleheader against Monterey Bay, Holy Names was led offensively by freshmen Lyveana Ilayan and Courtney Tarbat. Ilayan is leading the team hitting .400 with three homers and 14 RBI. Tarbat is batting .301 and has combined with Ilayan to drive home 26 of the team's 53 RBI this season.

Vanessa Pulido (4-2, 5.09 ERA) and Karolanne Tipton (1-5, 6.73 ERA) are the team's primary starters. Sophomore Kayla Simonson (1-3, 2.89 ERA) rounds out the Hawks pitching staff that has combined for a 4.75 ERA this season.
