Box Score HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team was defeated soundly by Cal State Stanislaus on Friday night, 92-61, in the penultimate home game of the season. The Warriors (15-8, 11-8 CCAA) led from the opening possession and never looked back. It's the eighth straight loss for the Pioneers (7-18, 4-15 CCAA).
"All the credit for tonight goes to Stanislaus and coach Reynolds," said head coach
Gus Argenal. "We got beat in every facet of the game, and they capitalized on our defensive mistakes."
Jarred Jourdan was East Bay's leading scorer, notching 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting to go with four rebounds. Freshman
Aaron Cameron knocked down three long balls and finished with 11 points, his second straight game scoring in double figures.
Stanislaus shot 63.6 percent as a team in the first half and went into the break with a comfortable 45-29 advantage. They were nearly as hot in the second half, finishing at a remarkable 58.5 percent for the game. Sam Marcus (22 points) was a perfect 9-for-9 from the field for Stanislaus, and Marcus Bell (23 points, 15 rebounds) controlled the paint on both ends.
The Warriors out-rebounded East Bay 42 to 30 overall. The Pioneers managed just a .316 team shooting percentage and went 6-for-23 from three-point range.
Gabe Kindred scored eight points, and
Mark Samuels posted seven. Jacsri Whitfield dished out a team-high three assists.
Ryan Hebebrand grabbed six rebounds to team the Pioneers.
Kyle Frakes and
Donavon Jackson both scored five points off the bench.
Kenneth Farr II had a pair of boards in his fourth straight start.
"I expect us to rally back and play a much better game tomorrow night to honor our seniors," Areganl added.
East Bay plays its final home game on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. against Chico State. There will be a brief pre-game ceremony to honor the five seniors who will be competing at Pioneer Gym for the final time. The game will be broadcast live at
