-- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team turned in another solid performance on Tuesday in the final round of play at the 2014 Super San Diego Championships, hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University. The Pioneers shot a team score of 319 (+31)  in the second round of the first tournament of the spring at the Riverwalk Golf Club to finish at 643 (+67).

East Bay was one stroke ahead of Western Washington (+68) in sixh place and just five strokes behind Academy of Art (+62) in fourth. 14th-ranked Cal Baptist (+46) won the team championship behind individual medalist Nathalie Silva (+3). Lee University (+49) and the hosts PLNU (+50) round out the top three. The Pioneers bested 12 schools in the 17-team field.

Junior Linda Brown was East Bay's top golfer for the second straight day. The San Leandro native shot a 76 (+4) on Tuesday to finish at 154 (+10), good for 6th place in the overal field of 94. Brown was one of three Pioneer to break 80 in today's action.

Sophomore Melissa Hosman fired a 78 (+6) in the seocnd round of play, finishing the tournament tied for 15th place at 158 (+14). Senior Andrea Castellanos, who was one stroke under par on par-fives on Tuesday, took 23rd place with a total of 161 (+17) after shooting a 79 (+7) in round two.

Jackie Ang shaved four strokes off her card from yesterday and turned in the fourth-best score for the Pioneers in round two. Her 86 (+14) on Tuesday gave her a combined total of 176 (+32), good for 65th place. 

Arielle Swan-Smith stumbled to a second-round 87 (+15), putting her two-day total 171 (+27). The junior finished in 55th place overall. 

The Pioneer women next compete in two weeks in Austin, Texas at a two-day tournament hosted by Saint Edward's University on Feb. 24-25.
