-- Cal State East Bay senior Linda Brown finished in a tie for eighth place at the 2014 Dallas Baptist Women's Classic after shooting 74 ( 2) in the second round at the par-72 Golf Club of Dallas. In her first tournament since placing 23rd at the NCAA Division II Championships last Spring, Brown led the Pioneers to 15th place out of 17 teams in Dallas to open the 2014-15 season.

The squad finished the week at 656 ( 80) overall as the only California institutuon in the field. The hosts, DBU, won the team title at 600 ( 24), followed by Saint Edwards ( 29) in second place.

Though not as bad as Monday, the student-athletes played though winds of approximately 20 miles per hour. Brown turned in a two-round total of 150 ( 6), putting her 10 strokes behind the individual champion, Dallas Baptist's Sydney Williams (-4).

Junior Melissa Hosman carved six strokes off her first round score, carding 77 ( 5) on Tuesday to finish at 160 ( 16) and tied for 43rd in the overall field of 92 golfers. She got off to a great start this morning, beginning on Hole 10 and playing the back nine at one over par.

Junior transfer Taelor Shweiki followed up yesterday's 85 with an 86 ( 14) in the second round to close out the week tied for 78th place at 171 ( 27).

Freshmen Taylor Wyss and Sienna Starck both showed significant improvement from their first round as collegiate golfers to their second.
