Box Score 2 HAYWARD, Calif. – The Pioneer women's softball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting Hawaii-Hilo 6-0 and 11-0 on Tuesday.
In the first game, Vulcan pitcher Vanessa Salinas tossed a perfect game. Salinas retired 21 straight Pioneer hitters and recorded 11 strikeouts.
The Vulcans struck for two runs in the top of the first inning. Kristina Victa led off the inning with a bunt single, and later scored on a Salinas sacrifice fly. Emily Greene followed with a home run over the leftfield fence.

Lauren Zweigle (1-2) struck out the next three Vulcan hitters. Zweigle, who finished with eight strikeouts, fanned Arren Nunez with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the third.
The Vulcans increased their lead to 4-0 in the fourth, highlighted by a Victa two-run single.
Victa had a RBI single as the Vulcans added to more runs in the top of the sixth.
In the second game, Nunez had a run-scoring double to highlight a Vulcan three-run first inning.
Sara Pacioni doubled to lead off the bottom of the second.
Sara Holdridge followed with a walk. A doubleplay and groundout ended the Pioneers scoring threat.
Hawaii-Hilo (7-5) blew the game wide open with six runs in the top of the third, sparked by two-run double off the bat of Rebecca Lee. Nunez accounted for the Vulcans 11th and final run with a solo home run in the top of the fourth.
Chelsea Kakela opened the bottom of the fourth with a double, but was stranded at third.
Taryn Thomas, Kakela and Pacioni accounted for the Pioneers three hits.
The Pioneers (2-4) will open CCAA play on February 15 with a home doubleheader against Humboldt State.
