HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will host Cal State Monterey Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Pioneers look to bounce back above .500 in league play while the Otters hope to earn their first CCAA win of the season.

Cal State East Bay (4-5, 1-1 CCAA) split its opening pair of league contests this past weekend. East Bay never trailed in a 13-point win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, but could not pull ahead of Cal State L.A. in the second half suffering a tough loss on Saturday.

Brianna Terrance scored 20 points for the third time this season in the victory over the Toros. In the Pioneers four victories this season she is averaging 19.0 points per game and shooting over 57 percent from the field. In the team's five defeats she has been held to 12.4 points and under 36 percent shooting from the floor.

Fellow senior Sarah Finlay has averaged 14.8 points per game in the team's wins, and just 5.8 in Pioneer losses. East Bay has won the last four games in which she has scored in double figures.

Finlay, Stephanie Lopez, and Rachel Finnegan currently rank third, fourth, and fifth, respectively in the CCAA in assists. Teammate Danielle Peacon leads the league with 15 blocks this season.

Cal State Monterey Bay (3-2, 0-2 CCAA) dropped both of its weekend league contests by double digit margins to Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills. It does not get any easier for the Otters as the poorest shooting team in league play (.313) will face the Pioneers top scoring defense allowing only 53 points per game.

Angelique Bailey has stepped up in league play averaging 15 points per game and knocked down 5-of-11 attempts from three. In three non-conference games she averaged just 2.7 points and missed on her only 3-point attempt.

Teammate Ashley Morgan (11.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg) scored career-highs in back-to-back games to open league play. She scored 14 against Cal State L.A. and followed that up with 21 on 9-of-17 shooting from the floor against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Nikki Beckman was the 2012-13 CCAA Newcomer of the Year after starting all 29 games last season and averaged 6.2 points per game. She has started all five games for the Otters this season and scored 11 points in Saturday's loss to the Toros.

Cal State East Bay Head Coach Suzy Barcomb earned her first victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in eight tries in the most recent matchup on Feb. 5, 2013. Terrance scored 18 points in the win and the Pioneers enjoyed a 44-31 rebounding edge during a 45-39 road win over the Otters.
