Suzy Barcomb

Suzy Barcomb entes her sixth season as head coach of Pioneer women's basketball in 2015-16. Her fifth season with Cal State East Bay finished with a historic ending. She led the women's basketball program to the institution's first-ever CCAA postseason win during the opening round of the conference championships. The Pioneers then advanced to the CCAA title game after knocking off No. 21 ranked Humboldt State in the semifinals.

Barcomb reached another milestone after notching career win No. 300 on the road against Cal State L.A. on Feb. 13, 2015. She finished her 17th year overall with 305 wins, and remains the all-time winningest coach in program history at NCAA Division III school Puget Sound.

Barcomb was voted the Cal State East Bay Coach of the Year in 2015. The Pioneers reached the 20-win plateau (20-11) for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Barcomb also moved into third place on East Bay's all-time coaching wins list following the school's history CCAA Tournament victory against Cal Poly Pomona on March 5, 2015.

In 2013-14, Cal State East Bay recorded its best CCAA regular season finish in program history finishing tied for third place. The Pioneers have qualified for the league tournament four straight seasons.

The Pioneers made program history this past season as three student-athletes earned All-Conference team honors for the first time since joining the CCAA in 2009. Brianna Terrance became the first Pioneer to earn All-CCAA First Team honors, joined by second team selections Stephanie Lopez and Danielle Peacon.

In 12 seasons at the helm for Puget Sound, Barcomb accumulated an overall record of 237-87, ranking her among the top 50 active coaches in Division III in career winning percentage. Barcomb guided her teams to four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances over her last five years and five straight Northwest Conference (NWC) Tournament title games. She also earned WBCA West Region Coach of the Year honors in 2010 and was named D3Hoops West Region Coach of the Year for 2006-07.

During the 2009-10 season, Barcomb led the Loggers to their best record in program history (24-5) and saw Bay Area product Claire Ely collect NWC Player of the Year, D3Hoops.com West Region Player of the Year and D3Hoops.com First-Team All-America honors. She was also named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention selection and was one of 12 finalists for the Jostens Trophy, awarded to the Division III Player of the Year.

Barcomb got her coaching start as an assistant at Puget Sound from 1995-98, when she was responsible for recruitment, scouting and defensive strategy. In addition to her duties as the head coach, Barcomb has worked in every aspect of athletics administration, assisting with event management, sports information, academic advising and recruitment. Barcomb is also a member of the USA Today/ESPN Board of Coaches National Committee and the WBCA, and was previously the NWC representative for West Region rankings and a site representative for the NCAA Tournament. She has also worked as a coach and an official at both the camp and high school levels.

Barcomb began her collegiate playing career as a two-year middle hitter on the volleyball team at Central Missouri State, where she was named first-team all-district. She also played small forward for the Central Missouri State basketball team for one season before moving on to Washington. Barcomb walked on for the Huskies and played one season.
