Gabe Kindred and Nick Grieves led the Pioneers (2-3, 0-0 CCAA) with 17 points and four steals each. Kindred was 6-for-12 from the field and added five rebounds. Grieves, making his home debut for East Bay, knocked down five three-pointers in a season-high scoring night. The junior transfer is now 13-for-23 (.565) from beyond the arc this season.

Jacari Whitfield filled up the scoresheet for the Pioneers, leading the team with eight assists and seven rebounds. He also poured in 16 points in a red-hot shooting performance, going 6-for-9 from the floor, including 4-for-6 from long distance.

As a team, East Bay shot 48.4 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range (12-for-29). They had nine steals while committing just 10 turnovers, and for the first time this season, they out-rebounded their opponents. CSUEB bested William Jessup on the boards 33 to 29, including 14 offensive rebounds for the Pioneers.

The Warriors cooled off in the second half after shooting 57.7 percent in the first half to finish at .521 for the game. WJU's Corey Clement led all players with 30 points and 19 rebounds.

"I was really impressed with William Jessup," said Argenal after the game. "They're tough, unselfish, and very well-coached."

The scoring was back and forth in the first half, but CSUEB found itself trailing by seven with two minutes left before halftime. However, Whitfield drilled a three on the next possession, and the Pioneers finished the half on a 10-2 run to go into the break leading 44-43.

The home team then proceeed to open the second half on a 9-2 run, and they never relinquished the lead from there. Grieves' fourth three-pointer gave the Pioneers their biggest lead of the night at 73-59 with just over six minutes left, and they kept the pressure on down the stretch to hang on for the 11-point win.

"I thought we did a good job responding in the second half with a defensive focus, but we need two halves of great intensity on that end," Argenal added. "That said, I was extremely proud of our team and how they finished the game."

Ryan Hebebrand scored a season-high 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting to go along with five rebounds. Jarred Jourdan also reached double figures, posting 11 points and five boards off the bench.
