HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's basketball will hit the road for a pair of non-conference matches. The Pioneers will face Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 23, and face Division I Nevada on Monday, Nov. 25, to wrap up a seven-game season opening road trip.

East Bay (2-3) enters the weekend having won back-to-back games at the PacWest/CCAA Challenge against Dominican and Academy of Art. Senior Sarah Finlay was named to the All-Tournament Team and later selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week.

Finlay, along with teammates Micah Walker and Danielle Peacon, will return to their hometown when the Pioneers face Nevada on Monday. Finlay played at Reno High School, while Walker and Peacon were teammates at Reno's rival Reed High School.

"I have always tried to schedule games in the hometowns of our players," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "We are very fortunate to play Nevada, and I look at this game as another opportunity to gain experience by playing an outstanding opponent."
Nevada (2-1) pulled away late in an 82-69 exhibition win over CCAA member San Francisco State earlier this month.

The Wolfpack defeated Utah Valley and Long Beach State by double-digit margins to open their official schedule.
Cal State East Bay will look to make it three straight wins against the PacWest when it takes on Fresno Pacific (0-5).

The Sunbirds have already faced two top-20 nationally ranked squads this season, and were one second away from a victory earlier this season against Seattle Pacific.

"Any game against the PacWest is important. We will approach this game with similar goals in mind; getting better as a team," said Coach Barcomb. "My focus has always been defense. I hope we can improve and start playing (defense) with some consistency."

Last season the Pioneer defense held opponents to just 51.1 points per game on average. Through five games East Bay opponents are averaging more than 70 points.
