WAIKOLOA, Hawaii
--- The Cal State East Bay women had their best team finish of the 2013 fall season as they tied for second place at the Dennis Rose Invitational, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo at the Waikoloa Beach Course. Leading the way for the Pioneers was Linda Brown, whose fourth-place ranking was her best performance of the fall. East Bay shot 311 (+23) in Tuesday's final round to give them a total score of 935 (+71) for the week.

The Pioneers finished ten strokes behind the champions, Chico State. They were tied with the hosts, Hawaii-Hilo, for second, and finished ahead of six additional teams. Individually, all five Pioneer golfers placed in the top-25 of the 48-player field, including three in the top-12.

Brown had a consistent week, following up her 78 and 74 on Monday with a 76 (+4) on Tuesday. Her three-round total of 228 (+18) was just seven strokes behind the individual champion, and Brown actually finished one stroke lower than Chico State's top golfer.

Andrea Castellanos and Melissa Hosman were impressive as well, and the pair finished with the exact same score of 234 (+24). They were tied for 11th place overall after Castellanos carded a final-round 76 (+4) and Hosman posted a 78 (+6).

The fourth score came from Arielle Swan-Smith, who just cracked the top-20 individually. The junior shot 82 (+10) on Tuesday to complete the tournament with a score of 242 (+32).

Rounding out the Pioneer scoring was Ysabel Cabreira, who also played a consistent week of golf. She followed up yesterday's 82 and 84 with an 81 (+9), her best round of the week. Cabreira finished up at 247 (+37), tied for 25th.

This was the final tournament on the fall schedule for the East Bay women. The team will begin its march towards a West Regional berth when the spring season starts up in February.
