CHICO, Calif. – The Pioneer men's cross country team took eighth place at the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. Chico State hosted the Championship Meet at Hooker Oak Course in upper Bidwell Park.
Cal State East Bay finished with total 191 points, while Chico State won the men's cross country title for the 12th straight year.
East Bay was led by senior
Jose Gonzalez-Mejia , who finished 43rd out of 71 runners. Gonzalez-Mejia completed the 8K course in a time of 27:34.8.
Daniel Damian,
Irvin Parada,
Orlando Ramirez, and
Cameron LeBato finished 51st, 52nd, 53rd, and 54th respectively. Damian recorded a time of 28:44.9, while Parada crossed the line in 29:58.7. Ramirez posted a time of 31:34.7. LeBato was clocked in 32:07.2 to conclude the Pioneers' scoring.
"We did as well as we could do in today's race," Pioneer head coach
Ralph Jones said. "It's such a competitive conference. We just need to figure out how to get out of the basement going forward."
