Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Cal State East Bay went on the road and was leading nationally ranked No. 17 Cal State Los Angeles early in the second half. The Golden Eagles responded with three unanswered goals to hand the visiting Pioneer side a 4-2 loss on Friday evening at Jesse Owens Track.

Those highlights included a first half game-tying goal from
Chris Lara and a second half go-ahead score from
Arthur Ethel. Teammate
Arnol Arceta assisted on both scores, and Ethel was a key contributor on the first East Bay goal. The two Pioneer goal scorers join teammate
Trey James for the season lead with two goals apiece.
It was the third time in four tries the Pioneers had been tied in the second half against a nationally ranked opponent this season. Friday was the first time East Bay enjoyed a lead against a top-25 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) ranked squad.
It was a short lived advantage as Cal State Los Angeles (8-1-2, 6-1-2 CCAA) junior midfielder Sigifredo Torres tied the game at 2-2 just 74 seconds after relinquishing its lead.
CSULA's Andre Bissmark's fourth goal of the season came seconds before the hour mark for the game-winner. Teammate Jordan Payne tacked on the clincher in the 83rd minute after receiving the through ball from Juan Ochoa.
Cal State L.A. enjoyed offensive advantages of 19-9 in shots taken and 10-5 in shots on goal. East Bay senior goalkeeper
Bryce Bookhamer made six saves. Counterpart Mike Beigarten stopped three shots in the winning effort.
Cal State East Bay's two goals doubled the team's scoring output it was able to generate over the past six meetings with Cal State L.A.
Cal State East Bay (2-8-1, 2-6-1 CCAA) is on the road Sunday, Oct. 13, against Cal State Dominguez Hills (7-2-2, 5-2-2 CCAA).
