HAYWARD, Calif. - Coming off a pair of tough 1-0 road defeats to Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State, the Pioneer women's soccer team will play at Cal State Los Angeles on September 21 at 7:00 p.m. and Cal State Dominguez Hills on September 23 at 11:30 a.m. Cal State East Bay lost to Cal State L.A. and defeated Cal State Dominguez 2-1 in overtime last season.
“We really played well against Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State over the weekend,” Pioneer coach
Amy Gerace said. “I was happy with high level of play against two quality teams on their home fields. It's too bad we didn't win those games.”
The Pioneers are 0-3 in CCAA play and 2-3 for the season. Eugenie Foote has a team-best three goals including one game-winning goal against Notre Dame de Namur.
Kara Yamamoto has scored two goals and three assists for a team-high seven points.
Breahna Berry is third in scoring for the Pioneers with five points on two goals and one assist. The Pioneers have received outstanding defensive play from senior defender

Nina Cefalo has allowed 1.08 goals with 11 saves in four matches.
“Kara has created scoring opportunities from her midfield position,” Gerace said. “I given her the responsibility to lead us on the field and she has done a tremendous job. Zuly has played great in the backline. She's focused in every game and has been a great leader for our defenders.”
Cal State L.A. stands in the third place in the South Division of the CCAA with a 2-2 record. Cal State L.A. is 3-2-1 for the season. The Golden Eagles defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0 and Chico State 4-1 in CCAA play. Heather Williams, Shereen Khoobbagha and Megan Ollar have all scored two goals in six games for the Golden Eagles. Goalkeeper Gabriella Batmani has allowed 1.4 goals a game with two shutouts.
Cal State Dominguez Hills has lost three straight CCAA games and is now 1-3 in conference play. The Toros are 2-3-1 overall. Claudia Toledo has a team-best three goals in four games. Tiffany Hollis has allowed 0.91 goals a game with 19 saves in four games in the net.
“Every team in this conference is tough,” Gerace said. “We need to continue to play our best soccer against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills this weekend.”
