MARYSVILLE, Calif. - Pioneer baseball players Charlie Sharrer and Nick Hudson were named to the Horizon Air Summer Series All-Series First Team on Aug. 8. The pair were the only players from Division II to earn First Team honors after playing in the Horizon Air Summer Series, a collegiate wood bat summer league.

Sharrer, who posted a .262 batting average for the Pioneers during the 2012 campaign, played for the San Luis Obispo Rattlers who edged the San Francisco Seagulls to win the Engelken Division. During the summer season, Sharrer hit .345 with 39 runs and 40 RBI, all of which ranked second on the team. The Palmdale native also finished with nine stolen bases and a 1.69 earned run average in four appearances on the mound. Sharrer's All-Series performance helped the Rattlers go 15-9 overall with an 8-1 record at home during the 2012 campaign.

Hudson, a transfer from UC San Diego, was a member of the Marysville Gold Sox. A starting pitcher for the Gold Sox, Hudson posted a 7-1 record in 12 appearances, compiling a 2.18 earned run average to rank second on the team. Hudson struck out 61 batters in 70.1 innings of work and held opposing batters to a .214 average. The Benicia product capped the summer league campaign with a 108-pitch no-hitter against the Sacramento Legends on Aug. 4.
