KAHUKU, Hawaii –
Junior Chris Gallagher led a good performance by the Pioneer men's cross country team at the NCCA II West Regional Championships on Saturday. The West Regionals, hosted by Hawaii Pacific, was held at the Kahuku Golf Course in Kahuku, Hawaii.

Gallagher placed 115th out of 134 total runners. He covered the 10k course in 37:00.98. Jose Gonzalez-Mejia followed in 118th place with a time of 37:45.58. John Vergara rounded out the East Bay contingent finishing in 39:48.07 to place 126th.

“All three men ran very smart and controlled,” Pioneer coach Ralph Jones said. “I was proud of the way they ran and represented East Bay, as it was their first NCAA Regional and 10k race. They've been running 8k races all season. For them to come out and run the way they did, made me very proud.”

Chico State captured the team championship, followed by Alaska-Anchorage in second place.
