Box Score HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer women's soccer team gave the #8 ranked Cal State Stanislaus a tremendous game in a 1-0 setback before 413 fans on Youth Soccer Day.

The East Bay coaching staff was very appreciative of all the Youth Soccer players, their families and the fans who supported the Pioneers. 

East Bay is 2-6-1 in the CCAA and 4-6-1 overall. Cal State Stanislaus extends its winning streak to nine games and stands at 7-1 in CCAA play and 11-1 for the season. The Pioneers were outshot by a 14-8 margin. Ariana Gordon had three shots including one on goal for the Pioneers. Goalkeepers Jamie Botteon and Nina Cefalo recorded seven saves. Botteon turned away six shots in 70 minutes in the net.

“Stanislaus is a good team and I thought we did a good job today,” Pioneer coach Amy Gerace said. “I'm proud of our team for being in every game this season.”

The Pioneers came out strong in the early going as Breahna Berry and Katie Brawley each got off shots. Botteon made a great save on Warrior forward Karenee Demery in the seventh minute.

The game's only goal came in the 23rd minute as Demery scored her 13th goal of the season. Allie Dugan was credited with the assist.

East Bay had three chances to score in the second half. Allison Ventura had a shot saved by Warrior goalkeeper Millie Brown. Brawley attempt on goal went wide in the 79th minute. Shianna Falk had a shot blocked in the 84th minute.

Cal State East Bay will play a road game at Sonoma State on October 11.
