Men's Results
LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Pioneer men's cross country team claimed eighth place at the CCAA Championships on Saturday. The CCAA Championship Meet was held at the North Campus Course of U.C. San Diego in La Jolla.
The men, who totaled 229 points, were led by junior
Will Weekes, who finished 41st and 50th overall out of 71 runners. Weekes completed the 8k course in 28:04.9.
Junior
Chris Gallagher and freshman
Gavin Ramos finished 44th and 45th respectively. Gallagher crossed the wire in 28:29.6, while Ramos was clocked in 28:34.2.
Junior
Jose Gonzalez-Mejia posted a time of 28:52.1 to finish in 47th place. Senior
John Vergara placed with a time of 30:21.3.
“Our guys did a good job today,” Pioneer coach
Ralph Jones said. “It was a good sign to see four of our runners finish this tough course in 28 minutes. We have a young group of runners who run together in a race. Once they understand their competition and how a race plays out, we'll be very competitive in the CCAA.”
Chico State captured the team title for the 11th consecutive year. Humboldt State took second place honors.
