TURLOCK, Calif. -
The Cal State East Bay softball team managed just a pair of runs in a doubleheaders sweep at the hands of Cal State Stanislaus on Friday afternoon in Turlock. The Pioneers (7-7, 4-6 CCAA) were shut out in game one, 3-0, and saw their comeback attempt fall short in game two, falling to the Warriors (9-13, 6-8) 3-2 to cap the doubleheader. The two teams will meet for another pair on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Warrior Field.

Game one saw East Bay post just three hits and had just three baserunners as CSUS starter Brittani Weatherford tossed a complete game shutout and struck out six. Weatherford picked up her fourth win of the season. Sophomore Sara Holdridge accounted for two hits in the loss, while Heidi McAllister allowed two earned runs on four hits in three innings of work to drop to 0-1 on the year.

In game two, Stanislaus starter Kristan Burns took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, striking out three and facing just two over the minimum during the first five. Trailing 3-0, the Pioneers finally broke up the no-no in the top of the sixth as Taylor Neumann drove in a pair of runs with a single up the middle with two outs. Neumann brought in pinch runner Renaye Gamson who came on for Emily Montanez after her double and Mishka Hamor, who reached on a fielder's choice. Burns got out of the inning, however, and Weatherford came on to pick up the save with a scoreless seventh.

Burns was the winner for the Warriors in game two, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings of work. Kelly Lowe took the loss for East Bay, giving up three runs on five hits in 4.2 innings pitched. Neumann led the Pioneers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Cal State East Bay and Cal State Stanislaus return to action tomorrow when they close out the series with another doubleheader at 12 p.m. in Turlock.
