Pioneers' Senior Night Spoiled by Cal State Stanislaus

The Pioneer men's basketball team lost on Senior Night to Cal State Stanislaus, 81-64, before 623 fans at Pioneer Gym on February 12.

Cal State East Bay took an 18-16 lead with 11:46 left in the first half. A three-pointer by Donovan Jackson increased the Pioneers' margin to 24-19 at the 9:33 mark.

The Warriors went on a 12-2 with 3:26 remaining to take a 31-26 lead. Evan Scott scored five points down the stretch to give the Warriors a 40-28 lead at halftime.

Scott converted another basket to increase the Warriors' lead to 52-38 with 14:43 left in the game.

The Pioneers cut the lead to 55-51 on a Jackson jumper at the 10:43 mark. East Bay could get no closer as Cal State Stanislaus went on a 26-13 run in the final 10 minutes to earn the victory.

All five Pioneer starters scored in double figures. Jackson led the way with 15 points followed by Roshun Wynne with 14. Wynne scored all 14 points in the second half.

Senior Jared Waters scored 12 points while Mark Samuels and fifth-year senior Will Freedman had 11 each.

Cal State Stanislaus, which improved to 8-10 in the CCAA and 10-12 overall, shot a sizzling 57.1 percent from the field including 61.9 percent in the second half.

The Warriors' Reggie Jones led all scorers with 20 points. Scott followed with 19 points on 8 of 9 from the field.

The Pioneers are 2-16 in CCAA action and 4-18 for the season.
