HAYWARD, Calif. - Off to its best start since 2005-06, the Pioneer men's basketball team, (4-2) will host Cal State Dominguez Hills on December 18 and Cal State Los Angeles on December 19. Both games will begin at 3 p.m.
The Pioneers won their first two CCAA games at home over Sonoma State and sixth ranked Humboldt State.
East Bay leads the CCAA with an 88.5 scoring average, 10 steals a game, .500 field goal percentage and turnover margin, (+5.00). In Division II, the Pioneers rank ninth in turnover margin, (+6.8) and 28th in free throw percentage (75.9).
Mark Samuels is 38th overall in Division II scoring with a 20.5 point per game average. Samuels, averaging 17.5 points per game, is the third leading scorer in the CCAA.
Roshun Wynne is seventh in scoring in the CCAA averaging 16.5 points a game. Wynne was the CCAA Player of the Week for December 2-3.
Nick Marshall is tied for 30th in Division II with 2 blocked shots a game. Marshall is 12th in rebounds in the CCAA with a 6.4 average.
Jason Smith, netting 3.4 three-pointers a game, ranks 13th in Division II. Smith is 28th in Division II with a 47.2 shooting percentage from the 3-point area.
Cal State Dominguez is 1-2 in CCAA play and 2-3 for the season. The Toros defeated the Pioneers twice during the 2010-11 campaign. Robert Willhite, averaging 11 points a game, is the Toros leading scorer. George McGrew leads the Toros on the boards with 6.3 rebounds a game.
Cal State Los Angeles is 2-1 in the CCAA and 6-1 overall. The Golden Eagles, who beat the Pioneers in two conference games last year, boasts the top scoring defense in the CCAA allowing 53.3 points a game. Center Carl Hoffman tops the Golden Eagles with 12 points and 7.5 rebounds a game.
