Cross country runner Jose Gonzalez-Mejia led the Pioneers to a fourth place finish at Saturday's Stanislaus Invitational. The senior placed 12th in the race and set a personal best with a time of 15:58.40 on the 5k course. It was his first time breaking the 16-minute barrier at that distance in the past two seasons. Gonzalez-Mejia has improved his standing in each of 2013's three meets. He was East Bay's third finisher at UC Riverside, ran the second-best time at Stanford, and placed the Pioneers this week.
