Emily Schaefer enters her second season as an assistant coach for Pioneer women's basketball in 2014-15. She is familiar with Pioneer basketball, having played for Cal State East Bay from 2007-09.
Schaefer transferred from Butte College in Oroville, Calif. in 2007. She served as team captain and played in 26 games as a senior for the Pioneers. She was a prep star for Kelseyville High School in Lake County, Calif., earning All-League honors in two sports. As a senior in 2005, she was named Lake County Female Athlete of the Year.
Emily graduated from CSUEB in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in History. In May of 2014 she graduated from Chico State with a Master's degree in Kinesiology.
Schaefer has lended her expertise at basketball camps since 2005 at Sly Park Basketball School in Pollock Pines, Calif. She has also worked at Elite Camps at Stanford University led by Hall of Fame Coach Tara VanDerveer. Schaefer recently served as an assistant coach at Marsh Junior High School in Chico, Calif., and was actively involved with the Golden Valley AAU program.
Emily enjoys anything outdoors, running, and participating in NPC competitions. She was born in Chico, Calif., and is a fan of MLB's San Francisco Giants.
