Jacari Whitfield

Jacari Whitfield joins Cal State East Bay as an assistant coach after a successful four-year run as a player for the Pioneers.

In the 2014-15 season with the Pioneers, Whitfield was named CCAA Honorable Mention after leading all CCAA players in minutes per game (35.3) and free throw percentage (.903), while placing second in assists (4.9 per game) and 10th in scoring (13.0 points a game).

His freshman year effort in 2011-12, earned him CCAA Freshman of the Year.  He averaged 6.9 points per game, 3.0 assists per game, and shot .882 from the free throw line.

Whitfield owns two career Cal State East Bay records. His 195 three-point field goals and .885 free throw percentage are tops in program history. His 346 career assists is second all-time and his 959 career points place him ninth in program history.

Whitfield is a native of San Francisco and played high school basketball for St. Joseph’s Notre Dame for three years, was named all-league three times, and led his team to a Division V State Championship. Â
