Daniel Eberhardt enters his sixth season on the Cal State East Bay men's basketball coaching staff and first season as Associate Head Coach in 2019-20. He spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach for California Maritime Academy (NAIA).
Eberhardt was responsible for recruiting, opponent scouting, player development, film exchange, academic advisory, and community service for the Keelhaulers. He will perform similar duties for the Pioneers under head coach Gus Argenal.
In 2013-14, Cal Maritime captured both the regular season and tournament championships for the Cal Pac Conference, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the third consecutive year. The team was ranked in every national top-25 poll, climbing as high as No. 14. In 2012-13, the Keelhaulers advanced all the way to the NAIA Sweet 16, and the squad was awarded the prestigious Dr. James Naismith Sportsmanship Award.
Eberhardt was a student-athlete at Cal Maritime prior to beginning his coaching career. He competed on the basketball team for two seasons and played in 58 games. As a senior, Eberhardt appeared in every game and captained a Keelhaulers team that won school’s first Cal Pac championship and earned its first top-25 ranking, its first undefeated season in conference play, and its first bid to the NAIA tournament. Daniel's 2011-12 team also set the school record for most victories (21), including a victory over eventual national champion Oregon Tech.
A native of Sacramento, Eberhardt earned his B.S. in International Business and Logistics from Cal Maritime in 2012. Prior to that, he spent two seasons at Grossmont College in El Cajon, Calif. In 2009-10, he led the team in points, assists, and steals and earned honorable mention All-League honors.
Eberhardt was also an All-League prep player at Woodcreek High School in Roseville, Calif. In addition, he has worked numerous summer camps, including UCLA, Stanford Hi Potential, Hoop Mountain, and Sly Park, and he has run Holy Hoops Basketball Camp in Sacramento for the past seven years.
