GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Cal State East Bay men's golf team delivered a solid three-round performance to finish 14th overall at 2-under par at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Pionners showed consistency through the opening two rounds, posting team scores of 283 (-5) and 285 (-3) to sit under par heading into the final day. The Pioneers remained within striking distance of the top 10 before a final-round 294 (+6) shifted them to a 14th-place finish in a tournament dominated by Chico State, which ran away with the title at an impressive 39-under.
Individually,
Cooper Groshart led the way for East Bay, finishing tied for 41st at 2-under par. Groshart carded rounds of 71, 71, and 72 while
Oscar Blomqvist added another highlight for East Bay, finishing tied for 52nd at even par.
Peyton Hendricks contributed with a tie for 65th at +2, highlighted by back-to-back under-par rounds (70, 71) to start the tournament.
Nathaniel Frink followed closely, finishing tied for 83rd at +5. Rounding out the lineup, Jack Blinderman placed 85th at +6.
The Pioneers are back on the course next week at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.
