Cal State East Bay is celebrating a historic milestone this holiday season with a record-breaking $50 million gift — the largest single donation in the university's history and a transformative investment in its mission to advance student success and regional impact.
President Cathy Sandeen said she was speechless over the news and added, "This gift is truly transformational. It will help us grow, not just now, but into the future. I am tremendously grateful."
Scott's philanthropic approach centers on recognizing organizations doing meaningful, effective work and empowering them with the rare and powerful opportunity to sustain, strengthen and expand their impact. Scott's team selected Cal State East Bay following a rigorous review of the university's multi-year impact, financial stewardship and leadership. Her gift will significantly strengthen the university's endowment and long-term capacity.
"This recognition is a testament to President Sandeen's vision and unwavering dedication to the students and the community we serve," said Foundation Board President Evelyn Buchanan.
"Cal State East Bay — and our hard-working students — are finally getting the recognition and credit they deserve, and in such a big way," said Sandeen.
