HAYWARD, Calif. — Julian Valle and Bennett Richards each scored in the second half to lead Cal State East Bay to a 2-0 victory over Cal State San Bernardino in a CCAA men's soccer match Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium.
After a scoreless first half in which the Pioneers outshot the Coyotes 16-2, Valle broke through in the 47th minute. The junior forward found the left side of the net off assists from Leon Eisert and Yuto Hatayama to put East Bay ahead 1-0.
Richards doubled the lead in the 71st minute, netting his second goal of the season off passes from Valle and George Binda.
- Goalkeeper Adan Corona recorded five saves for his second shutout of the season and seventh of his career.
- The Pioneers dominated possession throughout, outshooting CSUSB 28-7 overall and 9-5 in shots on goal.
- Valle finished with a goal and an assist for the second time in his career, while Hatayama and Alan Gutierrez led the Pioneers with four shots each.
- The win marked East Bay's first victory over San Bernardino since 2015.
