SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal State San Marcos swept Cal State East Bay, 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) in a CCAA women's volleyball match Saturday afternoon at The Sports Center. The Pioneers have lost three straight matches.
The Pioneers held early leads in both the first and second sets, but the Cougars mounted strong comebacks. East Bay led 15-12 in the opening set before San Marcos rallied with an 11-2 run to take control, eventually winning the set 25-21.
A similar pattern emerged in the second set, with the Pioneers up 14-12 before the Cougars closed on a 13-3 surge to go up 2-0, winning the set, 25-17.
Although set three was the closest played in the match, the Cougars led for the majority of the set, finishing the sweep with a 25-22 win.
- Pagani led Cal State East Bay with 11 kills and a .400 attack percentage. She also contributed a team-high eight digs.
- Pi'ilani Carvalho paced the Pioneers' offense with 18 assists.
- Despite the setback, the Pioneers' Kale'a Kuamo'o continues to lead the CCAA in digs per set with 4.11.
