Pioneers Celebrate Senior Day on Saturday

HAYWARD, Calif. – On Saturday, No. 18 Cal State East Bay women's swimming hosted its final home meet of the season against No. 16 Simon Fraser University, Southwestern Oregon Community College and UC Santa Cruz at Pioneer Pool. In the team competition, the Pioneers won 202-60 over the Banana Slugs and 214-43 over the Lakers. The Pioneers fell 137-125 to the Red Leafs. 

Prior to the meet, Chloe Beebout, Monica Beltran, Chenoa Bodero, Patty Eppingher, Olivia Parham and Emma Wettlaufer were honored during a Senior Day ceremony for their contributions to CSUEB women's swimming. 
  • Winning the 100 yard backstroke was Hannah Sharp, with a personal best time of 57.50. 
  • CSUEB's second individual win of the day was by Tehani Kong, placing first in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:05.06 which was an NCAA 'B' Standard performance. Following Kong in finishes for the event were Reese Veron (2:07.60) in second and Addison Cadena (2:10.49) in third. 
  • Sharp also won the 200 yard backstroke in 2:04.26. 
  • Kong also won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:11.62. 
  • To close out the meet, the team of Brooklyn Dressel, Delaney Carlson, Kong and Parham won the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:35.62. 
The Pioneers return to the pool on January 27 for their final regular season meet as they will take on Fresno Pacific University and The Master's University at Sunnyside Aquatics Center.
