HAYWARD, Calif. – The 2023-24 season started off in victorious fashion for the Cal State East Bay women's swim team, who win a dual meet with Pacific, 149-113 at Pioneer Pool on Saturday. The Pioneers had eight first place finishes among 14 events.
Below are some of the notable performances on Saturday for Cal State East Bay:
- The 200 yard medley relay team that included Lily Caraway, Delaney Carlson, Tehani Kong and Brooklyn Dressel, won the event in one minute, 48.24 seconds.
- In just 59.14 seconds, Hannah Sharp won the 100 yard backstroke.
- Dressel placed first in the 50 yard freestyle (24.21) and 100 yard freestyle (52.24).
- Sharp also took first in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:05.51.
- Kong was the winner of the 100 yard butterfly with a finish of 57.77 seconds.
- Kylie Beaudet won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:10.74.
- To cap off the meet, the team of Dressel, Carlson, Olivia Parham and Kong won the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:36.87). Dressel's 52.09 leadoff leg of the relay met an NCAA Division II B standard.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, October 13 at 3 p.m. in the first Slug Shootout of two. The back-to-back meets take place on the campus of UC Santa Cruz.
