GREENWOOD, Ind. - The 2023 Academic All-District® teams were announced for softball on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators. From Cal State East Bay, three Pioneers received distinguished honors, including 
Anamaria Beard, 
Annelise Garcia and 
Gabriela Rivera. 
To be honored, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests as a regular starter or important reserve. The student-athlete must also be enrolled at the current institution for at least one calendar year prior to the nomination.
Beard's senior season included 13 wins in the circle and four saves. In 186 innings pitched, she had a 2.15 ERA. Her 98 strikeouts was eighth most in the CCAA. 
Garcia has collected a series of postseason awards in recent weeks. She was an All-CCAA First Team selection, D2 CCAA All-West Region honoree and the recipient of Cal State East Bay's Female Rising Pioneer Award in addition to Tuesday's honor. Garcia hit .311 throughout the season with 12 doubles, five triples and a team-high seven home runs. She led the CCAA in the regular season RBI count with 36. On the base path, Garcia stole 20 bases on 21 attempts.
Rivera started 54 games for the Pioneers and had 37 hits and three doubles. Defensively, Rivera led the Pioneers in assists with 152 and made 97 putouts.
