SEASIDE, Calif - Cal State East Bay women's water polo won its third straight match as the Pioneers had a strong offensive showing in the fourth quarter to defeat the Cal State Monterey Bay, 8-4 in WWPA play.

In the opening quarter, each team would score a goal. The Pioneers' tally came from
Luna Sarmiento with 7:26 left in the quarter.Â

The Pioneers outscored CSUMBÂ 3-1 in the second quarter with all three goals fromÂ
Bailey Barlow as CSUEB took a 4-2 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the two teams again trded goals. The Pioneers' goal came from
Jordan Jarandson with 5:57 left. The Otters would add the final tally of the quarter to trim the Pioneers' lead to 5-4 after three quarters.

The Pioneers' offense would come alive in the fourth quarter.
Daniela Passoni, Sarmiento and
Elise Whitworth each scored a goal as the Pioneers won their third consecutive match, 8-4.

Cal State East Bay outshot Cal State Monterey Bay 36-30 and won all four opening sprints.
