LOLETA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay softball completed its CCAA series against Cal Poly Humboldt at Bear River Sports Complex on Friday. The Pioneers won game one, 2-0, and lost 8-0, in five innings, in game two.
Game One – Cal State East Bay 2, Cal Poly Humboldt 0
The Pioneers would open the scoring in the top of the third inning on a
Sarah Duran RBI double to left field that drove in
Annelise Garcia.
One more run was added in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI triple by Garcia down the left line that scored
Sydney Littles for a 2-0 lead.
The win went to
Anamaria Beard for the Pioneers for her 12th of the season and fifth complete game shutout.
Game Two – Cal Poly Humboldt 8, CSU East Bay 0 (5 innings)
The two teams would play the first three innings with no score. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lumberjacks would open the scoring with three runs and added five more runs in the fifth to achieve a run-rule victory, 8-0 in five innings.
- In game one, Garcia and Jeslyn Cuellar had two hits each.
- Garcia leads the CCAA in RBIs through Friday's action with 33 this season. Her four triples on the season is also tied for the most in the conference.
Cal State East Bay: 22-27, 11-19 CCAA
Cal Poly Humboldt: 20-21, 8-14 CCAA
