SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State East Bay softball team traveled to San Francisco to take on San Francisco State in the first of two make up doubleheaders. The Gators won game one 2-1 and the Pioneers won game two 4-2.
Game 1 – San Francisco State 2, Cal State East Bay 1
The Gators opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run from Daniella Guerrera. The Pioneers tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single up the middle from
Gabriela Rivera that drive in
Kylie Coelho.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Gators won with a walk-off RBI single hit by Marissa Jordan.
Game 2 – Cal State East Bay 4, San Francisco State 2
In the top of the first inning, the Pioneers took an early 2-0 lead.
Jeslyn Cuellar and
Ysabella Cortez each hit RBI singles to drive in a run each.
The Gators cut into the Pioneers' lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Hitting her second home run of the season in the fourth inning was
Cynthia Carrillo, which was a two-run shot to extend the Pioneers' lead to 4-1.
Although SF State scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, and had an opportunity to add more in the sixth with runners in scoring position, the Pioneers held the GAtors scoreless in the final two innings to win 4-2 and split Tuesday's doubleheader.
The win went to
Savannah Barchus for the Pioneers for her sixth of the season with five innings in the circle.
Anamaria Beard picked up her third save of the season.
- In game one, Adriana Martinez went 2-for-3 from the plate.
- Carrillo went 2-for-2 in the second game and Rivera went 3-for-3.
