CARSON, Calif. – Cal State East Bay softball team split a CCAA doubleheader with No. 22 Cal State Dominguez Hills at Toro Diamond on Saturday The Pioneers won game one 1-0 and the Toros won game two 8-1.
Game One – Cal State East Bay 1, CSU Dominguez Hills 0
The Pioneers scored the lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning on a double steal as
Annelise Garcia stole home plate and Jesslyn Cuellar stole second base.
Anamaria Beard picked up her ninth win of the season, with 7.0 innings in the circle. She had four strikeouts in the shutout.
Game Two - Cal State Dominguez Hills 8, Cal State East Bay 1
After two scoreless innings, the Toros went up 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
An infield single by
Ysabella Cortez in the top of the fifth inning drove in Garcia to cut the Pioneers' deficit to two runs.
However, CSUDH scored five unanswered runs for the final tallies of the game on the way to an 8-1 win to close out the series.
- Beard picked up her third shutout of the season with the game one win.
- In game one, Sydney Littles went 2-for-3.
- Cortez has a hit in six of her last seven games.

The upcoming doubleheader between CSUEB and SF State, scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, has been postponed.
Cal State East Bay is scheduled to play five games in the Tournament of Champions, hosted by the City of Turlock from March 31-April 2. The Pioneers' first game of the tournament takes place Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Chaminade from Pedretti Park in Turlock, Calif.
