SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team played its final game of the 2022-23 season at San Francisco State. To close out the season, the Pioneers finished with a 67-59 victory.
In the first quarter, the Gators started the game on a 11-2 run, but the Pioneers responded with a 13-2 run, capped by a
Delia Moore 3-pointer with 36 seconds left, to take the lead at 15-13.
The Pioneers gained their largest lead of the half at 13 in the second quarter, at 30-17 on a
Christina Bacci 3-pointer with 4:36 left in the half. The Gators went on a 10-0 run, capped by a Taimane Lesa-Hardee 3-pointer with 2:47 left in the half, to trim the Pioneers lead to 32-27. The Pioneers led 34-29 at halftime.
Cal State East Bay gained its largest lead of the third quarter at 15, 50-35, with 44 seconds left on a
Payton Sterk fastbreak jumper.
In the fourth quarter, the Gators trimmed away at the Pioneers' lead. The Pioneers though led at 54-38, on a pair of free throws from Moore free throws. SF State went on a late run to cut the Pioneers' lead to five, but Cal State East Bay finished with a 67-59 win to finish the season.
- Scoring a career-high 14 points for Cal State East Bay was Taylor Linzie, who went 7-for-11 from the floor. She had a double double by adding 11 rebounds.
- Also with a double double was Jaela Richardson, with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- In her final game with the Pioneers, Grace Campbell scored 12 points. In two seasons with the program, Campbell scored 469 total points.
- Also playing her final game for Cal State East Bay was Moore, who finished the game with 10 points. Her career total in scoring was 819 points.
- Moore's 216 career assists is tied for seventh most in Pioneer history.
- Michaella Dean had one rebound in her final game with the Pioneers.
- The 2022-23 season was the first for Cal State East Bay under the direction of head coach Jenny Thigpin.
