SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal State East Bay women's basketball dropped a CCAA game on Thursday at Cal State San Bernardino, 71-57 at Coussoulis Arena on the CSUSB campus.
Kayla Rosemon had career-highs in scoring and rebounds for a double-double in the game.
CSUSB started the game on a 21-8 run, capped by an Olivia Lee layup with 15 seconds left in the first quarter, ultimately finishing the quarter up 21-9.
The Coyotes led by as much as 15 in the first half at 35-20 at the 3:02 mark. The Pioneers scored five unanswered points to finish the half, with three of them from
Kayla Rosemon, as they trailed 35-25 at halftime.
The Coyotes expanded their to 21 in the third quarter, at 49-28, after an Auren Isaacson three-pointer with 6:12 left in the quarter. The Pioneers would come within 11, at 54-43, on a free throw from Rosemon with 50 seconds left in the quarter. CSUSB led 56-43 after three quarters.
The fourth quarter was evenly played, as CSUSB won the quarter 15-14, and finish the game with a 71-57 win on Thursday.
- Leading all scorers for the Pioneers was Rosemon with 20 points, going 7-for-14 from the floor and making six free throws. With her 16 rebounds, she had a double double, as she reached a career-high in both categories.
- Payton Sterk scored 13 points, with three baskets from beyond the arc. Defensively, she had five steals.
- Jaela Richardson had three blocks, and through Thursday's action, leads the CCAA in the category with 16 this season.
- The Pioneers shot 27.6 percent from the floor while CSUSB shot 42.2 percent in field goals.
- CSUEB outrebounded the Coyotes 51-47.

"It was a tough start to our road trip as we did not come out ready to match the intensity of our opponent and it was tough to recover after our slow start.
"We have to recover quick and get ready for our next opponent and try and get a split on this road trip."
