MORAGA, Calif. - Cal State East Bay women's basketball traveled to Moraga on Monday to take on NCAA Division I member Saint Mary's College in Moraga for an exhibition game as Pioneers lost 83-67 inside University Credit Union Pavilion.
The Pioneers trailed by two at the end of the first quarter 22-20. In the second quarter, the Gaels pulled away outscoring the Pioneers by seven 18-11 for a 40-31 lead. Although the third quarter was even at 22-22, the Gaels pulled away in the fourth quarter for the 83-67 victory.
Peyton Sterk led the Pioneers in scoring with 19 points.
Jaela Richardson had a double double with 12 points and a game high 16 rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures for the Pioneers were
Kayla Rosemon with 18 points and
Lailah Carey with 12.
Defensively, Richardson had a pair of blocks and three steals.
From SMC, Makena Mastora led all scorers with 26 points on Monday.

Only one game in the 2023 calendar year remains for the Pioneers, which takes place on Sunday, December 31 when they return to CCAA action at San Francisco State. Tipoff from The Swamp at Don Nasser Plaza (Main Gym) on the SF State campus is set for 1 p.m.
