HAYWARD, Calif. - Cal State East Bay men's basketball defeated Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday at Pioneer Gymnasium, 76-52 in a non-conference game.
In the first half, the Pioneers opened the scoring with a
Tyree Campbell 3-pointer with 19:16 left in the half and as the half progressed, would build their lead to 13 on two occasions; the second occasion at 33-20 on a jumper by
Dimitrios Klonaras with 3:38 left. The Pioneers led 37-28 at halftime.
Cal State East Bay started the second half on an 11-0 run, capped by a
Payden White 3-pointer with 15:48 left, to expand their lead to 48-28. CSUEB's largest lead was the final score of 76-52, as the final points of the game were from a dunk by
Kevin Ebiriekwe in the final minute.
- Grady Lewis scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Pioneers, going 9-for-15 from the floor. He also led the Pioneers in rebounds with eight.
- Klonaras had 13 and Daeshawn Eaton scored 10 points.
- Defensively, Klonaras had four steals.
- As a team, the Pioneers shot 52.5 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and went 6-for-10 from te free throw line.
- The Pioneers' defense showed on Saturday, as the Nanooks had 27 turnovers. Four of the turnovers were from shot clock violations.
- Alaska had a 34-27 rebounding advantage in the game.

"As we head into conference play, we will need to defend at a high level to reach our goals."
