FINAL RECAP: Women's Swimming Finishes Third at La Verne Winter Invite

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – No. 24 Cal State East Bay women's swimming competed in the final day of the La Verne Winter Invite at East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium. With a lot of successful relays and individual performances, the Pioneers finished third overall among 16 teams, and was the top finishing team among NCAA Division II programs in the meet.
 
Overall throughout the weekend, the Pioneers won four of five relay events in the meet.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES ON SUNDAY
  • To finish the meet, the Pioneers won the 400 yard freestyle relay in three minutes, 25.11 seconds, led off by Brooklyn Dressel, with teammates Delaney Carlson, Olivia Parham and Tehani Kong
  • Kong placed second in the 100 yard individual medley in 58.85 seconds.
  • Hannah Sharp placed second in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:02.55, making an NCAA Division II 'B' standard.
  • Also reaching an NCAA Division II 'B' standard was Dressel in the 100 yard freestyle with w time of 50.68.

UP NEXT FOR CAL STATE EAST BAY

The Pioneers are off for the remainder of the 2023 calendar year. The next meet for the Pioneers will be January 5, 2024 as they travel to San Diego to take on Concordia University Irvine and San Diego State for a double dual meet at Aztec Aquaplex.
