Valle's Two Goals Lifts Pioneers to 2-0 Win over CSUDH

HAYWARD, Calif. – On Sunday, the Cal State East Bay men's soccer team finished victorious with a 2-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills after a pair of goals from Julian Valle. What made Sunday's win more remarkable was that the Pioneers played more than 2 1/2 matches in the span of five days with Sunday's win concluding the stretch.

GOAL SUMMARY
  • After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers opened up the scoring in the 60th minute on Valle's third goal of the season. Oscar Avendano assisted in the goal.
  • Valle scored again with five minutes remaining in the match. Setting up the goal were assists from Aaron Farnan and Landon Raftery.

NOTABLE STATS
  • Valle's two goals has him tied for most on the team with Farnan as they both have four goals on the season. Combined with Farnan's assist and Valle's goals, each have 10 points in the 2023 season.
  • Valle also had the most shots for the Pioneers on Sunday with four.
  • Making his Pioneer debut in net was Mallel Rios, who earned the shutout by not allowing a goal and making four saves.
  • Cal State East Bay has reached seven wins on the season for the first time since the 2007 season.
  • The victory for the Pioneers was the first for the program against Cal State Dominguez Hills since becoming a member of the CCAA and first victory against the Toros since 1987.
