FAIRBANKS, Alaska - In a dual meet on Friday, the Cal State East Bay women's swim team defeated Alaska Fairbanks, 134-69, which was the first of two back-to-back meets against the Nanooks at Patty Center Pool. 

To start the meet, the 400 yard medley relay team of Hannah Sharp, Kylie Beaudet, Lily Caraway and Brooklyn Dressel won the event in four minutes, 1.38 seconds. 

And there were several first place finishes for the Pioneers, bolstering their point total, including:

• Miya French winning the 1,000 yard freestyle in 10:57.49
• Emilie Giannini winning the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.42)
• Brooklyn Dressel winning the 50 yard freestyle (24.44) and the 100 yard butterfly (59.80)
• Tehani Kong placing first in the 100 yard freestyle (54.89)
• Hannah Sharp winning the 100 yard backstroke (59.11)
• Justine Garcia winning the 500 yard freestyle (5:22.91)

The Pioneers and Nanooks meet again Saturday at Patty Center Pool for s second consecutive dual meet against each other. Start time is set for 10 a.m. Alaska time (11 a.m. Pacific).
